Irene performed in some of the most prestigious theaters in the world such as The Coliseum and Royal Albert Hall, in London, Kennedy Center in Washington, La Alhambra in Spain, Teatro Principal de Zaragoza…  She has performed in Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Canada, United States and several European countries.

 

In 2013, after retiring from the stage, Irene began her teaching career as a Ballet instructor at In-motion Performing Arts where she discovered her passion and love for teaching ballet.

In 2016-20 she joined Miami Dance Collective as Ballet Mistress.

Irene has trained dancers for the Universal Ballet Competition and ADC IBC. Many of her students have been awarded top placements in both competitions.

Her students have gone on to finish their training at prestigious schools such as Royal Ballet School, Tring Park School, Juilliard School, and also, into prestigious summer camps at San Francisco Ballet school, ABT, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Arts Umbrella and many others.

 

From 2014-2019 Irene toured the United States as a ballet faculty member with West Coast Dance Explosion convention.

In 2017 joined Dimensions Dance Theater of Miami as Ballet Mistress under the direction of Jennifer Kronenberg and Carlos Guerra.

 

Irene Balague is an ABT© Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT© Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 7 of the ABT© National Training Curriculum.

Irene Balague was born in Zaragoza, Spain.

She started ballet at the age of 3 and trained at world famous Maria de Avila School in Zaragoza, finishing her last year at the Real Conservatory of Madrid, under the direction of Virginia Valero, obtaining her degree in Classical Ballet with honors.

During her training she learnt and worked with the most renowned dance professionals in Spain and France, like Maria de Avila, Susan Barnet (Royal Ballet), Yolanda Plaza, Carmen Peralta, Virginia Valero, Lazaro Carreno (Cuban National Ballet), Juan Carlos Santamaria and Luisa Ramos (Nacho Duato), Elna Matamoros, Antonio Almenara, , Mark du Boiye and Fabiene Piat (Paris Opera), Rosella Hightower (Cannes) …

 

In 1996 Irene got her first contract as a professional ballet dancer with the English National Ballet in London, under the direction of Derek Dean where she performed the full-length classical repertoire such as Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Sleeping Beauty, Etudes, Coppelia, Gisselle, Cinderella, Paquita, Rite of Spring, Nutcracker, La Bayadere, Les Sylphides, Para Dos and many more.

After 5 years dancing with the English National, she was invited In 2001 to join Miami City ballet, under the direction of Edward Villela performing most of the Balanchine repertoire like Serenade, Theme and Variations, Elegie, Agon, Symphony in C, Square Dance, Jewels, Allegro Brillante, Four Temperaments, Who Cares?, Symphony in three Movements among others.

In 2007 Irene joined Ballet Gamonet in Miami, under the direction of Jimmy Gamonet dancing many of Gamonet’s choreography work.

During her career she performed soloist and principal roles in the ballets listed above and danced the repertoire of Petipa, Balanchine,N. Makarova, M. Corder,
